Fluctuations

Things were going swimmingly until we went to a 4 year olds birthday party at the D Note in old town Arvada yesterday. I binged on pizza like I was a zombie on the 28th day. And with that I went back up to 219 from 215.5. This week I will have to fire my mouth and my will power for being horrilbe door guards, in addition to trying to get my newly acquired fat reserves to take the hint and leave the party they were never invited to.

Awesome Weekend

I survived my weekend trip with my girlfriends. There was a ton of great yummy food and I tried to be really good. I know some of the girls would say that I obsessed a little too much, but for me it was important to continually remind myself that I needed to watch what I was eating. Otherwise I would eat too much and make bad choices.
I did gain a couple lbs when I got home, but by the next day I was down again and only 1 lb up from when I left. I was pretty impressed with how well I did. I let myself have indulge on things, but remembered to watch my portions.

And with that said, The Fat Man is beating me in the weight loss dept by quite a bit. Congrats Fat Man!!!!

Size 16

I went to Lane Bryant to exchange my pants that stretched out too much to wear. I got a 16 in those cotton pants. They had a new denim pair that they didn't have the other day so I tried those on in a 20. Too big. So I had her get me an 18 from the back. They only had 1 pair left. I put those on and had some room in them too. I went out to ask her if she thought these would stretch out too and she said they would a little bit. So she got me a 16 in the denim pair as well and those fit too!
It's only in Lane Bryant clothes that I am a 16, but still... it made me feel really good!

Day 18 Weight Loss

I have been sitting at 225 for a couple of days now. I had to start eating more calories because I'm nursing baby girl still and my milk supply was dropping.
I weighed this morning and finally dropped some more! 222 baby! I am now tied with The Fat Man. HA, take that! ;)
Although this time around I'm weird about losing weight. I seem to lose throughout the day. I am my lowest in the afternoon instead of the morning. So could it be possible that I could drop to 221?! I won't count on it yet. But I'm getting there!

I don't think I will be keeping those 3lbs off for very long though. I am flying to CA tomorrow to meet up with some girlfriends. We are going to have an awesome time and of course that includes yummy food! Yummy food that I normally don't get to eat. Burgers and pizza and chili. So I am prepared to gain a little of that back by the end of the weekend. I will try to be responsible but it will really test my will with it all sitting in front of me. Girls, you're going to need to help me!

Wheels of change Day 17

I weighed in this morning at 222...only 37 more to go! Whenever hungry between meals I have been making vegetable egg white omelets. At only 30 calories for a 1/4 cup of egg white mixed with every vegetable I can find in the fridge. It has proven to be a very filling and satisfying meal/snack when another cup of water won't cut it. My other healthy out is Gai Gra Pow (Garlic, Thai chilies, Fish Sauce, half a chicken breast, lots of Thai/Lemon Basil) I top it with a fried egg because the richness of the yolk really works well with the fish sauce and chilis. The dish is simple, flavorful, only around 160 calories.

Thus spake The Fat Man

I know with a title like that you are expecting parables and rhetoric to ooze out of every letter, or perhaps a little paradoxical soup for your mid day bloggercize.

Alas I am the other half of this blog's title. Although not needing a fork lift to ease me into my morning slippers before I taxi out to the runway. I am technically obese and have just about every Doctor's "No-No" symptom -(large belly, high cholesterol, high LDL, low HDL, high blood pressure, blah blah blah). Being a bit of an enginenerd I like the how do you say "Math". So knowing I am playing the odds for the onset of just about every major preventable disease is a bit overwhelming at times. Especially when I look into the eyes of my beautiful little ones.

Where/when did the weight come from? Although I still hold out the very plausible theory that I am part of a secret military plot where they inject me with fat whilst I sleep in attempt to make me the largest sexiest weapon in the world. I am slowly coming to grips with the fact that it is likely more to do with my love of food.(err addiction to eating). I worked/cooked/managed restaurants for 8 years of my life. The last being a Thai food restaurant where I ate/breathed/slept thai food for 2 years of my life. That is about the time I met my wonderful wife and began making sure she was well fed ;) and of course you never cook for one, so I cooked for 4.

So there it began, I started channeling Paula Dean and butter happened to jump into everything I made. Every meal started with a base of cheese, Chipotle burritos became snacks and a Super value meal wasn't enough without a side of burger.

183 lbs to 245 in a couple of short years, went quick. So begins the epic battle!

...When The Fat Man had spoken these words, he again looked at the people, and was silent. It wasn't because they didn't get him, it was because he had forgotten what he was going to say next.

My New Pants

I went to Lane Bryant over the weekend to find some capri's for my upcoming trip to CA. They only had an 18 in the pair I wanted to try so I was going to ask them if they had a 20 in the back. By the time I got to the fitting room I forgot all about asking them for the size 20. So I put the size 18 on and THEY FIT! Not only did they fit, they were a little loose! Now granted, I think it was the type of pant because I don't think I can fit into an 18 in denim.
So I brought the capri's home and have worn them for a day. After wearing them, they have stretched out and they now look 2 sizes too big on me. Why do pants do that? So I should have gotten a 14 so they could stretch out to an 18/20??? So now my new pants look really sloppy on me. :( I just can't win.

Do We Weigh More Than We Think?!

I think our scale is off. I got on it this morning and it told me 225. YAY! But then I stepped back on it again (why oh why did I do that??) and it said 226. Tried a 3rd time and it said 226. That is when I remembered that The Fat Man tried a couple times last night because he was getting different readings.
*sigh*
so I guess I better look for a new scale. Wonder if there are any good reviews on amazon. I hope we don't actually weigh more than we think....

On second thought, maybe we should try changing the battery and weighing the same object first every time so we know it's working correctly.

The Reason For This Blog

The Fat Man and I have been married for 6 years. We were both very thin when we met, but having finally found someone who accepted and loved me for who I was, I got very comfortable. Too comfortable! The weight started coming on quick. We both had gained about 30lbs when we got married a year and a half after we met. I then got pregnant with our first child and gained a whopping 70lbs during that pregnancy. I only lost 40lbs before I got pregnant again with our second child. That pregnancy I gained 50lbs.
We decided to start eating right and started the Dr Phil weight loss plan and lost about 20lbs. We then went to Las Vegas and completely fell off the wagon. My stepmom asked if I wanted to join weight watchers with her and so I started on that program. It was going great and I was down below 200lbs for the first time in a couple years. I was so excited. I then got pregnant again with our third child and lost control. I ate whatever I wanted to during that pregnancy and gained around 60lbs.
So here I sit, 40lbs heavier than where I was when I was below 200. The Fat Man and I decided to start our weight loss journey again. This blog is here to help us stay on track and document our journey.

And before you think I'm a horribly mean woman, my husband suggested the name for this blog and will be referring to himself as "The Fat Man." It was not my idea! ;)
