Almost A Month

I can't believe it's been almost a month since we've written on the blog. There is a reason for it... we've fallen off the bandwagon. We're going on vacation, well, not really a vacation because a road trip with 3 kids 4 and under will not be a vacation, more a trip really... So we're going on a trip and we can't diet while on a trip, so we will get back on track when we get home. I know that's what people always say... we'll do it later. but we really will get back on track. We want to and loved our results so far. We will definitely get back on track.

mmm tasty cortisol

This week I have had unhealthy levels of cortisol inundating my body. I can feel its effects as I can feel slight weight gain as I am too tired to fight my mouth. Hopefully things settle down and clear up soon.

Still Cracking

It has been rather frustrating working out so frequently and not melting off the pounds. I pulled the kids behind me on a long bike ride father's day. After 2 hours I was still looking for hills to climb and up shifted much of the ride. So my endurance and stamina is much improved since starting our program. I am happy with that but still wish I would budge off of my 205 mark. I am considering going veggy for a week perhaps breaking the plateau.

Update: started off with all vegetables for breakfast and lunch...then promptly ate a steak sandwich for dinner. I will try again tomorrow...:)

Not Too Bad

The cake is gone. We ate massive amounts of cake. But the birthday is over (for this month) and we are now cake free. Well, we have another one in the freezer that needs to come out today, but that will be going home with the aunt and boyfriend. We do still have ice cream in the freezer though, and that is not good. I LOVE ice cream.
I'm only up .5 lb from a couple weeks ago though, so that is good. I don't know how that happened though, it seems like I should be up at least 6 lbs.
The Fat Man is up a couple lbs, but I'm not sure how much exactly. He's being good and working out every night though.

Weight GAIN.

Gain??? Wait, aren't we supposed to be going the other way?
Just like I thought, the endless amounts of cake and frosting we have in our house is not good. And if you add to that the greasy fattening food from The People's Fair this weekend in Denver, it's no wonder I'm going up and not down.
We really need to get back on track, but we've said that for over 2 weeks now.

Hey Fat Man, when are we going to get back on track??

Injury and Ranting

We got the wii active game a couple days ago. I love it! It really kicks your butt. Problem is, I injured myself doing it on day 2. Since it's a wii game, I just stood up and did it without shoes on. The running, the lunges, the high kicks... All that movement with no shoes gave me achilles tendonitis. I can barely walk.
Everywhere I've looked says that it takes 2-4 weeks to heal and I can't exercise until it heals.

We've been stalled out for almost a month on our weight loss. Due to our overeating and lack of exercise again. And now it's going to be harder for me to get back on track.

Oh, and did I mention that we have a 2 layer cake sitting in the kitchen? I have to practice the cake for Lexi's birthday in a couple weeks. That's not going to help either!

*sigh* here's to hoping we can get back on track SOON! I am sitting at 200.8 right now and I sooo want to be under 200. But I soooo want to eat that cake too! :)

Imbalanced equation

It seems as if all of my hard work exercising is being lost to my inability to not eat. I am going to start calorie counting tomorrow to see just how bad its gotten.

The proof is in the gravy

One of my first posts I monologued about how bad my cholesterol and fat levels were. I just recently got retested and while the results are promising...it really underscored the fact that I am not out of the woods yet.
I dropped my total cholesterol from 289 to 223...under 200 is recommended...so I am moving in the right direction.

Really?

So I haven't been posting as much because it is no fun to post the same weight constantly. Well I finally broke the 30 pound mark!!! 206.5 sure I may have stalled for a month, but the point is I am still going down!

my dork/rational ratio got the best of me and the rational won

Office Challege Log

I will probably just keep editing this same post for the work challenge. If there are dissenters to this opinion, well then let me know.

OMG

I stumbled upon this photo today. It was right after I gave birth to my first daughter and I was probably around 270 lbs at the time. OMG I vow to never get that big again. This was 06/2005.

A challenge has been heard from the authorities of the land

A challenge has been placed before me by my employer (and all employees). The gauntlet has been thrown down, and it landed on my pinky toe and bounced back straight into my face.
I am to work out 4 times a week with moderate to high intensity until August 21. I am to document said sessions and figured this would be a good place to do it. The first day of the challenge is today. So I must work out 60 times between today and then. I will keep a running entry with updates and stats from today, gosh I hope I grow taller.

We Moved

So after hitting a plateau for almost 2 weeks (little movements up and down) we both finally moved down.

207.5 for both of us!

YAY

Friday, April 24, 2009

Um Captain why aren't we going anywhere?

Passengers:We have been sitting here for nearly 12 days.
Captain: I have been sick and everyone knows its hard to go anywhere when you aren't feeling well.
Passengers:We have places to go, we want to get off the ship.
Captain:Believe me I want you off of here too, you whiny bastards just hold me and my ship down.
Passengers:Why we never...Have you been drinking?
Captain:Pipe down, how many calories are in Nyquil and cough drops?
Passengers:Well can you just stop here and let us off?
Captain:Stop? We haven't been anywhere in nearly 2 weeks, why haven't you just jumped? Seriously, why don't you passengers work like that? Sigh...well let's get this ship moving...Wait where were we going?

The Proof Is In The Pictures

I made some photo coffee mugs for Christmas and we use them every morning. I was looking at my mug this morning and it had an old family picture. Wow. You can definitely see a difference in The Fat Man and myself. Well, I think so anyway. Lets keep it up baby!

There is no spoon (not in my hands at least)

211...210...209 How interesting, I believe I have reached a peculiar point in time. At this time 2 years ago I had reached 209 before going to Vegas with the wife. The 3 day trip single handedly destroyed all of our hard work. Vegas proved to be too powerful of an excuse to over eat at every opportunity. I learned my lesson that the brain absolutely controls every aspect of weight loss (and pretty much everything else), and making just a few exceptions/excuses can easily cascade into an avalanche of setbacks.

I am Jack's complete lack of surprise

I knew I would go up a little after a holiday, but the only thing that rose Sunday was my appetite. It was all there: lox, cream cheese, bagels, chorizo, potatoes, eggs, bacon, ham, pancakes..etc. Not to be undone by the fact that dinner also featured ham, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, rolls, strawberry blinis...AAAHHHH!

I suppose I am too much of a gracious guest to turn down the hard work of an individual. To make matters worse we haven't gone grocery shopping in quite awhile and raiding the stockpile resulted in a giant plate of nachos last night. I am Jack's distended belly. I am pacing myself today, as a Buffalo Wild Wings just opened near us. I have done my research and can afford 6 measly buffalo wings (72 calories each), with all the celery and carrot sticks I can choke down(Jack LaLanne would be proud).

As of right now I am back up to 214 from my low of 211.5 Sunday morning.

10%

I hit my 10% weight loss goal. As a reward for myself, I went to get my haircut. It's a little shorter than I wanted, but it looks nice. Looks fresh and gives me more life. :)

Bike Ride

So my neighbor has been wanting The Fat Man to go bike riding with him for a couple weeks now. We are finally around this weekend so The Fat Man agreed to go riding with him on Saturday. The Fat Man is going to get his ass kicked. LOL This neighbor runs marathons and does triathlons. Yeah, The Fat Man is going to die. I wish you luck baby.

And if this particular neighbor is reading, please take it easy on my husband. Please.

:)

Update: They didn't go. It was raining on Saturday.

10%

When I was doing WW their first big goal was 10% of your body weight. I guess if you lose just 10% of your body weight you are much healthier.
The Fat Man has hit his 10%. CONGRATS!!!!
I am not quite there, but only a few pounds away.

We had to exchange some shorts for The Fat Man last weekend because we bought him his normal size and they are too big! I am also in my old jeans that I wore before getting pregnant with Logan. They are a little snug, but I'm used to wearing things so baggy. I don't look like a sausage, so they're ok I guess. ;)

We ordered pizza last night and stopped at 2 pieces each. Their website said 1 slice was 210 calories so that was only 420 calories. (although I think my slices were bigger than they should have been!) It was very yummy, but we didn't overdo it like we did a couple weeks ago at the D Note.

Back to losing

Finally back to where I was a little over a week ago. Monday night I put in 30 minutes of cardio, and yesterday I did 2 thirty minute sessions. I weighed in this morning at 214! I was surprised that I lost weight, because yesterday I had consumed nearly one metric ton of pasta(there was hardly any left at the end of the day). Which coincidentally spurred the second cardio session out of guilt for eating so damn much. It was a box of whole grain penne pasta (7 servings, 200/10) with a 6 Italian turkey sausages (6 servings, 161/90 lol how is that lean?), 1 onion carmelized(1 serving, 60/0), 2 cans of diced tomatoes with Italian seasonings (6 servings, 30/0). So the entire dish was 2606 calories. So yesterday I easily consumed 2200 calories, but burned about 800 with an hour of cardio. Stupid food...:)

I also wanted to make a mention that Anna Mae is looking hot. :)

Stop toying with me scale

So last week I failed to make as many strides as I had hoped. I weighed in this morning at 216.5, which is still up from the previous week. Yesterday morning I was completely famished and dehydrated and weighed 215. Which was exciting but not healthy, as it was brought on by a night of heavy drinking. I also failed to do any cardio last week so this week I plan on rekindling my like-hate with my elliptical machine, and weather permitting my bicycle<*gasp>.

Fluctuations

Things were going swimmingly until we went to a 4 year olds birthday party at the D Note in old town Arvada yesterday. I binged on pizza like I was a zombie on the 28th day. And with that I went back up to 219 from 215.5. This week I will have to fire my mouth and my will power for being horrilbe door guards, in addition to trying to get my newly acquired fat reserves to take the hint and leave the party they were never invited to.

Awesome Weekend

I survived my weekend trip with my girlfriends. There was a ton of great yummy food and I tried to be really good. I know some of the girls would say that I obsessed a little too much, but for me it was important to continually remind myself that I needed to watch what I was eating. Otherwise I would eat too much and make bad choices.
I did gain a couple lbs when I got home, but by the next day I was down again and only 1 lb up from when I left. I was pretty impressed with how well I did. I let myself have indulge on things, but remembered to watch my portions.

And with that said, The Fat Man is beating me in the weight loss dept by quite a bit. Congrats Fat Man!!!!

Size 16

I went to Lane Bryant to exchange my pants that stretched out too much to wear. I got a 16 in those cotton pants. They had a new denim pair that they didn't have the other day so I tried those on in a 20. Too big. So I had her get me an 18 from the back. They only had 1 pair left. I put those on and had some room in them too. I went out to ask her if she thought these would stretch out too and she said they would a little bit. So she got me a 16 in the denim pair as well and those fit too!
It's only in Lane Bryant clothes that I am a 16, but still... it made me feel really good!

Day 18 Weight Loss

I have been sitting at 225 for a couple of days now. I had to start eating more calories because I'm nursing baby girl still and my milk supply was dropping.
I weighed this morning and finally dropped some more! 222 baby! I am now tied with The Fat Man. HA, take that! ;)
Although this time around I'm weird about losing weight. I seem to lose throughout the day. I am my lowest in the afternoon instead of the morning. So could it be possible that I could drop to 221?! I won't count on it yet. But I'm getting there!

I don't think I will be keeping those 3lbs off for very long though. I am flying to CA tomorrow to meet up with some girlfriends. We are going to have an awesome time and of course that includes yummy food! Yummy food that I normally don't get to eat. Burgers and pizza and chili. So I am prepared to gain a little of that back by the end of the weekend. I will try to be responsible but it will really test my will with it all sitting in front of me. Girls, you're going to need to help me!

Wheels of change Day 17

I weighed in this morning at 222...only 37 more to go! Whenever hungry between meals I have been making vegetable egg white omelets. At only 30 calories for a 1/4 cup of egg white mixed with every vegetable I can find in the fridge. It has proven to be a very filling and satisfying meal/snack when another cup of water won't cut it. My other healthy out is Gai Gra Pow (Garlic, Thai chilies, Fish Sauce, half a chicken breast, lots of Thai/Lemon Basil) I top it with a fried egg because the richness of the yolk really works well with the fish sauce and chilis. The dish is simple, flavorful, only around 160 calories.

Thus spake The Fat Man

I know with a title like that you are expecting parables and rhetoric to ooze out of every letter, or perhaps a little paradoxical soup for your mid day bloggercize.

Alas I am the other half of this blog's title. Although not needing a fork lift to ease me into my morning slippers before I taxi out to the runway. I am technically obese and have just about every Doctor's "No-No" symptom -(large belly, high cholesterol, high LDL, low HDL, high blood pressure, blah blah blah). Being a bit of an enginenerd I like the how do you say "Math". So knowing I am playing the odds for the onset of just about every major preventable disease is a bit overwhelming at times. Especially when I look into the eyes of my beautiful little ones.

Where/when did the weight come from? Although I still hold out the very plausible theory that I am part of a secret military plot where they inject me with fat whilst I sleep in attempt to make me the largest sexiest weapon in the world. I am slowly coming to grips with the fact that it is likely more to do with my love of food.(err addiction to eating). I worked/cooked/managed restaurants for 8 years of my life. The last being a Thai food restaurant where I ate/breathed/slept thai food for 2 years of my life. That is about the time I met my wonderful wife and began making sure she was well fed ;) and of course you never cook for one, so I cooked for 4.

So there it began, I started channeling Paula Dean and butter happened to jump into everything I made. Every meal started with a base of cheese, Chipotle burritos became snacks and a Super value meal wasn't enough without a side of burger.

183 lbs to 245 in a couple of short years, went quick. So begins the epic battle!

...When The Fat Man had spoken these words, he again looked at the people, and was silent. It wasn't because they didn't get him, it was because he had forgotten what he was going to say next.

My New Pants

I went to Lane Bryant over the weekend to find some capri's for my upcoming trip to CA. They only had an 18 in the pair I wanted to try so I was going to ask them if they had a 20 in the back. By the time I got to the fitting room I forgot all about asking them for the size 20. So I put the size 18 on and THEY FIT! Not only did they fit, they were a little loose! Now granted, I think it was the type of pant because I don't think I can fit into an 18 in denim.
So I brought the capri's home and have worn them for a day. After wearing them, they have stretched out and they now look 2 sizes too big on me. Why do pants do that? So I should have gotten a 14 so they could stretch out to an 18/20??? So now my new pants look really sloppy on me. :( I just can't win.

Here are the capri's I got: Click Here
